Hornby Grange

From: Paul Plowman - 14 Nov 2008 mrol@...
Can you give an update of your reply to my original question of 9th March 2008? March was a long while ago now. We have seen the delivery time drop to 6 weeks and then increase again to 8 weeks. If your target is to reduce this time to 1 month before returning to conversion work then it would appear that availability of the new conversion packs for the Hornby Grange, Bachmann Hall and Ivatt 4 is unlikely in the immediate future. Can you tell us what work is still required before the three conversion kits listed as "development complete" can be made available for purchase? I have purchased one Hornby Grange for my P4 layout but have put off buying further Granges or Bachmann Halls awaiting the availability of Ultrascale conversion packs. Progress with my layout is better made by spending funds on other items such as track rather than leaving models sitting in their boxes unused. I am becoming concerned that stocks of some of these models are beginging to run down in the shops and the choice of liveries is reduce. I am faced with a dilemma in that I need to purchase the models I want for my layout now without knowing when or if Ultrascale conversion packs might be available to convert them to P4.

The conversion for the Hornby Class 6800 'Grange' is available for ordering. For details see conversion packs section of our web site.

Unfortunately our first priority must be production as this is the main complaint we get from customers, reference delivery times on their orders. Also, we have not had the interest that we would have liked in these conversions. However, having said that, we are going to try and get these conversions along with the others into production at the start of the new year when we come back from our Christmas shutdown. Also I would like to add that due to the need for specially made crank pins and other parts, the cost for these conversions will be higher than previous ones of this type.
